Home to Iowa’s largest and oldest veterans’ home, Marshalltown wears the nation’s colors with the pride you’d expect of community in the Midwest. We celebrate our diversity and our freedoms because of the hard work and sacrifice of those who came before us and served our nation. Share in our commemoration of our national heroes from tours of the veterans home and the war memorials on their campus to the F-4 fighter on permanent display at Freedom Rock. In addition to the museums and memorials, take note of the patriotic public art all across Marshalltown, and pay attention to the ball caps walking by you at the car show, as there’s a good chance their worn by proud veterans.
Iowa Veterans Home
Make sure to check out artifacts both inside and outside the facilities! The sprawling 150 acre campus is home to almost 400 Iowa veterans.
The Vets Home has war memorials from every major American conlict since the Civil War.
Freedom Rock and F-4
Check out both of these sights in one stop! The Vietnam-era Phantom F-4 fighter jet was flown by local resident Joe Latham and now serves as a memorial to all veterans.
Raymon Veterans Park
Just 5 miles north of Marshalltown, this Veteran-themed trailhead showcases a cannon, memorabilia and more.
